5292015 Image1There’s a tremendous new shop in town.

Curiouser & Curiouser belongs to Cathy Fleck, who specializes in sustainable products.  Her shop is located right in the middle of the southern side of Main Street, in the cozy space where Laxmi used to be. (Laxmi has moved to the building formerly called The Secret Garden.)

I was particularly taken by the colorful Blessing Baskets from Ghana.  The biggest one has an affordable price point of $47.  There are bamboo toothbrushes, cotton totes, soap from Cape Cod’s Anya’s Herbs, belt buckles created in Hyannis, and fabulous brass oyster key chains made in Cotuit.  Cathy believes in selling local and organic.  In the space behind the shop, visitors can find sturdy wood trellises, wooden garden furniture, and pots of organic herbs.  There’s also pottery thrown by Chris Parris of Truro and photos by Jesse Steward Messling of Eastham.  If you buy a pair of bamboo sunglasses, their creator will donate a pair of prescription glasses to a child who cannot afford them.  Cathy has added some striking antiques to the mix and voila, a shop with character and heart.  Pick up some Salt Box soap or some non-toxic dishwasher detergent.  Cathy plans to have a refilling station for used bottles in the future.  In Wellfleet.  Awesome!
