Many visitors to town have found this blog while searching for news of the stationary shop that used to be located on Bank Street.
All summer, guests have been asking me whether their favorite Wellfleet shop has closed. In fact, Jules Besch has moved to Truro, as I reported here last year. Michael, the owner, was sorry to leave Wellfleet. Yesterday I went up Cape to check out his new location, beside the Whitman House restaurant. The new shop seems bigger, with lots of nooks and crannies. Quilts were sold in this building for many years, including the quilt in Liberty Coin Suite. Michael has a wonderful collection of marvelous merchandise, greeting cards, stationary, agendas, and much more, on display. (For instance, the box of original note cards below, created by a local artist.) Michael greets guests on Saturdays, but the shop is open other days, too. It’s worth the trip, even without the intention to buy. I came away with two agendas and an unusual card to congratulate friends on their wedding. Couldn’t resist!
