As we age, the passing of contemporaries hits harder.

Wellfleet lost two outstanding citizens in the past week.  I did not know either of them well, but admired them both.  Tom Reinhardt and Gooz Draz, above, who lived off the grid and collapsed after chopping firewood.

Chuck Cole posted this tribute to Gooz on Facebook: “Gooz was there.... for WOMR..... when we moved our Studios.......He was there for the Pond Hill School.....when we needed matching funds for our Solar Panels....He was there on Wellfleet Town Boards....helping us plan and vote for our futures....and the future for his family....I will really miss him....just being town....and ‘playing ....along.’

Tom Reinhardt was a local businessman who participated on town boards, “an all-round nice guy,” as Sven put it.  Everyone knew Tom was battling cancer.  He had a stroke recently.  Doctors discovered the cancer had metastasized to his brain.  He passed away ten days later.

Our condolences go out to the families of both men.
