12222015 Image1Wishing all readers of this blog a Merry Christmas.

This past week Sven and I attended a holiday party.  We ended up talking to a carpenter from Truro, who has witnessed all the changes that are happenning on the Outer Cape over the years.  These changes were the subject of an article in the New York Times this week. I recommend that you read and think about it.  One of the interesting things the man said was that life had become so expensive here that people with families cannot afford summer visits. The nightmare traffic is another reason tourists are choosing to avoid Cape Cod.  While I think this view to be overkill, it is true that restaurants are expensive here, and that the grocery stores hike up prices in summer.  81% of Wellfleet now belongs to second-home owners.  This is an astounding figure.

Since the end of the year is fast approaching, and the TENTH anniversary of this blog with it, take a moment to consider the Outer Cape in your charity giving.  Off the top of my head, let me recommend Outer Cape Health Services, which does such a great job taking care of tourists in summer and residents all year long, and the Harbor Stage Company, theatre that intends to remain affordable despite the soaring cost of living.  (To donate, Google the names and look for their donation pages.)
