Help Prevent Herbicidal Spraying

3122015 Image1This week Wellfleet’s Selectmen sent a letter to MDAR, in support of the changes to the Commonwealth’s Herbicide Application Regulation, proposed by the Select Board in Harwich.

NStar has changed its name, but, alas, not its policies.  Although the trucks and the bills may now say Eversource, we know who is behind the misguided effort to remove vegetation under the power lines through the use of five herbicides, which will enter our sole source aquifer and our drinking water.  Wellfleet is on the list of towns targeted in 2015.

POCCA has been very active this month, and I salute them.  (The photo above was taken last fall at a protest organized by Director Laura Kelley, picutred on the right.)  What can the rest of us do?  What a short letter today.  Give your name and town and why you do not want herbicides sprayed on Cape Cod.  Send to: John Lebeaux, Commissioner, MA State Pesticide Bureau, 251 Causeway Street, Suite 500, Boston, MA 02114-2151 or email john.lebeaux AT state.ma.us.  Thanks!
